1st Day of School for the Dees household

As for many moms, the first day of school is always an emotional day. But I think for me, it was especially emotional this year. First of all, I got "demoted"...just kidding! I moved down to Kindergarten this year (which I truly am excited about)!!! Secondly, ME started Pre-K...but not at Roberts. I'm still having a hard time accepting the fact that we're not going to be going to school together this year, but I know that God has a plan and a reason for this. Lastly, my first day of school was also the same day as both Benjamin and Mary Elizabeth's first day of school. So I didn't get to go with them to school and take 1st day of school pics of them...I had to rely on Drew's photog skills instead. So I made sure that the entire household was dressed and ready before I had to be at school by 7:15 this morning, so I could at least snap a few shots of them before I left. I saw this cute idea on Pinterest and actually followed through with it for taking their first day of school pic. I just hope I actually remember to do it every year now. Ha!

How appropriate. When I asked Benjamin what he wanted to be when he grows up, he said he wanted to be a dress, then he said he wanted to dress like mommy. Then I finally got him to say a more appropriate answer. He wants to be a lion when he grows up. I think he'll make a great lion considering he runs around like Simba almost every night, too!

ME wants to be a Mommy Doctor so she can take care of babies. I think she's got the perfect heart for that!
One of many attempts to get a pic of them together.

This is a pic of me on my first day of school. While my kids were on their way to school, I was at my school posing with everyone else's child for their first day of school pics. One of the downfalls of being a teacher is missing out on your own children's events.
After school, I took the kids to Orange Leaf. That seems to have become our first day of school tradition now...a pretty tasty tradition! I think this was much deserved for me controlling my emotions today. Plus Drew said that Benjamin had a rough morning on his first day of school. He cried when Drew took him into his new class. The crazy thing about that, though, is that Benjamin had been going to school (the same school) all summer. I hope this isn't a sign to what his year is going to look like!

ME loved her new class and her teacher. We found out that she knows a lot of the boys in her class either from her old daycare at St. James, or through some of our friends. Now if we can only meet some girl-friends. :)
