My little man got to hang out with my little friends!

Little Rock had an unbelievable wind storm last night causing a lot of places to lose power...including Benjamin's school and making them close at 1 today. I had to get him before his school closed, but luckily we were having our class Christmas party today (and yes, I still call it a CHRISTMAS party instead of a holiday party!). Ben Ben was so excited to see me and to find out where he was going that he wouldn't stop talking from his school to mine! He had such a great time with my little Kinders and they were so sweet to him! My "teacher for the day" was absent today, so I let him be the line leader while he was their and now he keeps reminding me that he's the teacher. Ha!

Being cool with the big kids.

Watching a movie so I could get some assessments done.

The kids decorated cookies during the party so Ben Ben had to partake!

Ben Ben wasn't the least bit shy licking the icing!

Or using the sprinkles!

Or eating it!

ME's field trip to the pumpkin patch

I had the privilege of going on ME's field trip to Motley's Pumpkin Patch today. I had the best time getting to watch her hang out with her new friends that she's made this year! She would not ride the bus because she was afraid that she would fall off of the seat since it didn't have seatbelts. Ha!

Below are some pics from the fun we had today. Being a teacher, I felt that I need to blur out the kid's faces since I didn't know them...just fyi.
Fun times on the hay pyramid!

An attempt to get a pic of the entire class. As you can see from ME's pose and her friend, the puc wasn't very successful. Ha!

ME and her buddy Kade were in class together their 1st two years and are now back in the same class again at their new school. They're so fun together!

ME loved getting to feed the goats.

She didn't want to leave the goats!

I loved getting to go on a hayride with my princess!

Another attempt of getting a group shot. You can tell how that went. :)

ME loves school!

When Benjamin and I picked up ME from school, she was in CARE (the afterschool program). They were learning about healthy food choices. When we left, the teachers gave her a bag full of stuff, including a certificate. She was so excited about it that she wanted me to take a pic of her. Whatever the princess says...

Grandparent's Day with ME

I know I've said it before, but Mary Elizabeth sure does have some great grandparents! Today was Grandparent's Day at her school. She was so excited to get to show off her classroom to her LaLa, Dandy, and VeVe. The best part was that I didn't even tell her that VeVe was coming, so she was super excited about it! Thanks L, D, and V for taking time out of your day to make ME feel special!

ME loves school

ME's teacher sent me this pic of her today at school. The message said that these girls have become friends fast this week. That makes this momma happy since I will hardly get a chance to stop by the school to see her with her new friends!

1st Day of School for the Dees household

As for many moms, the first day of school is always an emotional day. But I think for me, it was especially emotional this year. First of all, I got "demoted"...just kidding! I moved down to Kindergarten this year (which I truly am excited about)!!! Secondly, ME started Pre-K...but not at Roberts. I'm still having a hard time accepting the fact that we're not going to be going to school together this year, but I know that God has a plan and a reason for this. Lastly, my first day of school was also the same day as both Benjamin and Mary Elizabeth's first day of school. So I didn't get to go with them to school and take 1st day of school pics of them...I had to rely on Drew's photog skills instead. So I made sure that the entire household was dressed and ready before I had to be at school by 7:15 this morning, so I could at least snap a few shots of them before I left. I saw this cute idea on Pinterest and actually followed through with it for taking their first day of school pic. I just hope I actually remember to do it every year now. Ha!

How appropriate. When I asked Benjamin what he wanted to be when he grows up, he said he wanted to be a dress, then he said he wanted to dress like mommy. Then I finally got him to say a more appropriate answer. He wants to be a lion when he grows up. I think he'll make a great lion considering he runs around like Simba almost every night, too!

ME wants to be a Mommy Doctor so she can take care of babies. I think she's got the perfect heart for that!
One of many attempts to get a pic of them together.

This is a pic of me on my first day of school. While my kids were on their way to school, I was at my school posing with everyone else's child for their first day of school pics. One of the downfalls of being a teacher is missing out on your own children's events.
After school, I took the kids to Orange Leaf. That seems to have become our first day of school tradition now...a pretty tasty tradition! I think this was much deserved for me controlling my emotions today. Plus Drew said that Benjamin had a rough morning on his first day of school. He cried when Drew took him into his new class. The crazy thing about that, though, is that Benjamin had been going to school (the same school) all summer. I hope this isn't a sign to what his year is going to look like!

ME loved her new class and her teacher. We found out that she knows a lot of the boys in her class either from her old daycare at St. James, or through some of our friends. Now if we can only meet some girl-friends. :)

ME's last day of daycare!

I don't know if I should be happy or sad.
Today was ME's last day of daycare. ME isn't quite understanding the fact that she won't be going back or probably won't see her classmates anymore, but she sure is excited about getting to stay home with me this summer as am I! One thing she's for sure about, though, is that Benjamin hasn't had his last day of school yet and he still has to go during the summer. I know that because she's been telling him that all week! Little does she know that I probably won't be sending him everyday or all day.

She had Miss Kim wrapped around her finger. I think Miss Kim would have bent over backwards for this little girl!

It's a zoo out here!

Due to some conflicts at school, Benjamin's class wasn't able to go on their zoo field trip. So the school brought the zoo to them...sort of. They actually had a petting zoo come to their school today. A mom of one of Benjamin's classmates took some great photos to share with us. There were several cute ones that I wish I could post of the others, but you know all about privacy issues and stuff. So I thought I'd share these two cute pics of my cute boy monkeying around!

Oh, just hangin' out at school with my friends

ME and Benjamin's classes had Easter Egg Hunts today. Unfortunately, being a teacher, I can't just up and leave to attend all of my kids events. Benjamin's class went first thing this morning, so I knew I wouldn't be able to see him. Luckily, though, I was able to leave during my break to watch ME's class. Sadly, I was walking into the school as they were walking back from the egg hunt. The teachers said that the younger classes sped through their hunts within about 5 minutes, so ME's class went way earlier than scheduled. I was so excited to be able to be there and then so disappointed that I actually missed the event all at the same time. The funny thing is that ME asked me to take pics of her and her friends, so I did. Her classmates are all so cute! Then I got to go play at recess with her and her friends. It was fun to see her in her element. Benjamin was already napping when I got there, so I didn't get to see him. That probably was for the better (on both of us), though.

Grandparent's Day at the Book Fair

These kids must be pretty special!!! Their school held a book fair this week and designated a special day for grandparents to come (aka a day for the "SUCKERS" to go spend money on their grandchildren day. Ha!)...Daddy Mike even used this as an excuse to fly in to visit his grands.

A Sunday afternoon nap.
ME sure helped me get the house clean before Daddy Mike and Memaw came into town.

The kids got to spend the night with my parents during the school week so they could go to the book fair first thing in the morning today.

This is how my mom found my precious babes this morning. I wonder when they won't want to share a bed anymore.

Benjamin's day was made...he got to see Clifford!

Don't judge Benjamin's bedhead! He just woke up from his nap and found Daddy Mike and Clifford...he didn't have time to straighten his dreads. :)

ME was so proud to get to show off her friends to her grandparents.

Daddy Mike, if you ever want to come be a Mystery Reader in my class room, it looks like you would be a great hit!

Benjamin: "Yes! Daddy Mike got me a truck book!"

They couldn't even make it to the Living Room to read their new books.

I love Benjamin's pose! Maybe I'll try reading like this next time.

Benjamin is in love with his new Cars book.

There's nothing like getting to snuggle on a grandpa's belly while watching tv!

Thanks so much VeVe, Daddy Mike, LaLa, Dandy, and Memaw for loving our kids unconditionally and taking the time to go to their book fair today!!!!
