Showered with gifts

Yesterday, my school threw me a baby shower. It was great, and again, I was overwhelmed! I got diapers, bottles, cute clothes, blankies, even a couple of handmade blankets. Here are a few of the pictures from the shower.

This is my sweet girlfriend, Cierra, that hangs out with me after school while waiting on her Granny to finish work. She was so excited to be able to come to my shower.

My principal made this blanket. The colors will look great in the nursery!

Little Bit finally has bedding to sleep on!!!

After weeks of patiently waiting, I finally got the baby's bedding yesterday and quickly put it on the crib to get pictures of it. I love how the bumper turned out...I'll admit that I was a little nervous of all the colors even though I love color. But I think it looks great with the frog print that Drew got me for Mother's Day. I am a little disappointed, however, about the bed skirt (that's why I'm not even showing it all in the picture) because of the fabrics that I chose. So I'm going to rework that part a little, hopefully, before Little Bit arrives. Now the only things that are really missing in the Nursery are Little Bit and more than one crib sheet. At least, though, it's all finally coming together! OK, I have to stop blogging now because Drew and I are off to another childbirth class. I'm sure that Drew is super excited! :)

The almost-finished nursery

I wanted to show all of my out-of-town family and friends the progress we've made in the nursery. As you can see, we have all of the furniture. The dresser/changing table was mine when I was a baby and little girl (obviously I didn't use the changing table part as a little girl). ;) My parents refinished it for me, and I painted new drawer pulls for it. The small rocker was my Granny's, then it was mine. The glider belonged to my Mama and Papa. My parents also refinished both rockers. The swatches of color on the crib are for the baby bedding. I'm waiting on a few more pieces of fabric to get that made and to get my seat cushion recovered for the glider. The frog print that Drew got me for Mother's Day, which I based all of the colors from, is getting framed. I can't wait to get that and all of my bedding put into place! I feel like it's all coming together finally!
Also, if you noticed Dixie at the bottom of the dresser, she's lovin' hanging out in the Nursery.

"A 'Little Bit' of Yellow and a 'LIttle Bit' more of Yellow"

Yes, the stripes are finished!!!!
Thanks to Anna Carol, I have come up with the names of my yellows in the nursery, in honor of my baby, Little Bit (hence the title of this post). Also, thanks goes out to mom, Kerri, Will, and Dixie for helping me get the nursery painted today. Will supervised and Dixie tail painted a bit. :)

My mom is one of the best trim painters in the world!

Kerri putting Will in his "paint gown" to better supervise us.

Again, after about 4 trips to Sherwin Williams getting the paint mixed a shade darker by a hair each time, I finally came to the right shade darker that I like for the room. It's the right amount for me and I am so happy to have the walls finished. Now I have to finish painting the changing table and rocker, and wait for the crib to get in. The nursery is finally coming together!

Thank you to everyone that has helped me paint my nursery and work on my furniture!!!!! I couldn't get it done without your help.

Not everything revolves around Dixie

...well, at least the title talks about her. I just wanted to update everyone because apparently people are convinced that this blog page is set up for my dog's sake. It's just that she's the only thing exciting right now, and she's stinkin' cute! But I'll update you on us and Little Bit.

In my nursery, I'm planning on doing tone-on-tone stripes with the yellow wall color. So last week, I got chalk line stripes on the walls with the help of my friend Kerri. Then, last night I taped off the stripes with my friend Lauren. Our AC is giving us fits (AKA, not working) and all I have to say about it is Arkansas in July, hot, me pregnant! So Lauren and I decided to come to a stopping point after we taped off the room. She said that this is no condition for a pregnant women to be in...I didn't argue. We're going to attempt to beat the heat and paint the stripes tomorrow night. Pray that God gives us another cool night. Luckily this week hasn't been as hot as we've had here before, but the humidity is thick!

I finally started to feel Little Bit move inside of me around the beginning of July. Sadly, though, Drew hasn't been able to feel the movement yet. I can't wait for that because I know he's anxious to feel it! But I'm sure that will come soon.

The next week I went to the American Idol concert with some friends of mine (Drew got the tickets for free from work in case you were wondering) and I think that we might have a musician, or at least a music lover, on board. Little Bit kicked quite a bit during the concert. Weird feeling, but totally cool! We joked that he-she was crying for Sanjaya. :)

Other updates:
I'm FINALLY going to get my ultrasound on Thursday and I will be 19 weeks!!!!!!!!!! The grandparents, minus Pop, are coming with Drew. They're convinced, or at least Drew is, that the person doing the ultrasound is accidentally going to tell us the sex or that the sonogram will be so obvious that we'll know what we're having. I hope they're wrong!

The other update is that the food of the week is a sweet potato, and Little Bit is approximately 7oz.. Last week, Little Bit was the size of an onion (thankfully, that yuck food is over!).

OK, I think that's about it for now. I'll be sure to post pix of my nursery and the sonogram soon.

Welcome to the new yellow

I have FINALLY come to a decision on the nursery's paint color!!! After 4 samplings from Sherwin Williams, going to Home Depot and Paint Depot to pick out a million other possibilities, I actually made a decision and got the room painted on Wednesday. Thanks Terry and Mom!!! Sadly, the guys at Sherwin Williams now know me as "The girl with the yellow fabric swatch", or just shortened to the "Yellow Girl who wants to darken or lighten the color a hair, a dash, or just a smidge." My mom knows what I mean when I use those technical terms but unfortunately those boys didn't. You think they'd learn technicality at paint mixing school. Seriously, though, the guys were really helpful with me and my crazy measurements of yellows. I just need to come up with a name for the yellow that I created and tackle the daring task of painting vertical stripes on the walls. I know I have until December, but I only have about a month until my freedom is taken again by school.

On another note, I wanted to show y'all Dixie's new spot to get away from me and my craziness. At first, she moved to the new guest bedroom and hung out by the window to catch the sun rays since she doesn't dare go outside (she's not spoiled by any means!). But now she has resorted to hiding underneath the guest bed to completely get away from it all. I can't decide if it's stinkin' cute or just plain depressing. You decide!

To find out or not to find out????

To find out or not to find out what we're having...that is THE question on my mind right now!Today I went to Cynthia East Fabrics with my mom to pick out baby bedding fabrics. My sweet, and creative, friend Abby works there and helped me come up with some CUTE bedding options. She is convinced that we're having a girl after she self-diagnosed me with the "20 questions" game of what I'm eating and drinking (which, by the way, I've been craving lemonade and cold cut sandwiches with Cheetos-yum!). So she insisted that I come up with a real girly option. My original plan was to go ahead and have everything squared away in the nursery by designing a gender-friendly room based off of a painting that Drew bought me for Mother's Day before Little Bit gets here, but now I'm all sorts of confused. I did agree to coming up with 2 options, however; one that could work for a boy or girl, and one that would be tooooo cute for a girl. It's crazy to think how little things such as bedding can really tempt you on spoiling surprises, but I'm sticking to my guns and still not going to find out.

PS - This is the painting that Drew surprised me with for Mom's Day. Although there is a frog and dragonfly, I'm not doing an insect/amphibian theme in case you're wondering.
